Every photo trip I take, I envision the beautiful images I will bring back; the gorgeous flowing landscapes, the portraits that tells a thousand stories. Yet, once I arrive at my destination, I rarely see the image that my mind has drawn. That is, until I look away from the “view” and truly observe the beauty that is present all around me; light as it dances with shadows, architecture in the reflection of windows or the supple curve of the hood of a car. I remind myself to stop trying to see beauty as defined by others but rather to Turn Around, Look Up, Look Down, Look Behind and witness the beauty that surrounds us in even the most simple of objects.
